Kahuna Race Details
(subject to change – 10-18-07)
- Two rounds of practice (8-10 laps)
will be available to dial in karts and track conditions
- Order of practice will follow the
order of events for the day
- Each kart may only enter track once
per practice round
- Maximum of 8-10 karts per practice
session
- Space out evenly around track to
avoid crashes
- Two qualifying rounds will be used to
set the main event starting order
- Order of qualifying will follow the order
of events for the day
- Pill draw will determine the order of
qualifying within each class
- Driver is responsible for mounting
transponder to kart before entering track
- Maximum 6 karts per session
- 5 qualifying laps per session
- Space out evenly around track so as
to not interfere with other karts
- The scorer will record each driver’s
best lap time from each session
- The driver’s best elapsed time will
be used to determine the starting order
- A roll of 2 dice will determine the
main event inversion
- The competition director and a
witness shall conduct the dice roll for each race
- If the dice roll total is an odd
number;
- There will be no inversion
- Karts will be lined up with the
fastest qualifier on the pole, etc.
- If the dice roll total is an even
number;
- The total of the dice roll will
determine the number of karts to be inverted
- Minimum inversion is 2 karts
- Maximum inversion is 12 karts
- Competition Director will apply the
inversion to the starting order prior to posting the starting lineup
- Each race will be broken into two
equal segments
- Yellow laps will count towards the
race total except;
- If necessary, each race will be
guaranteed two attempts at a green/white/checkered finish
- If those attempts fail, the finishing
order will be set by the last official scored lap
- At the end of the first segment, the
flagman shall signal a “competition red”
- During the “competition red”;
- All karts will be stopped in order on
the front straightaway
- All engines will be turned off
- A 5 minute time limit will be enforced
by the race director
- Drivers may exit the kart and receive
a drink of water
- One crew member per kart may enter
the race track
- Fuel may be added (using track
supplied fuel and containers)
- Tire air pressures may be adjusted
- Under the supervision of race
officials, broken body parts may be removed
- Use of duct tape to repair body
damage will be allowed for safety purposes
- No other adjustments or repairs are
allowed
- Any violations of these rules will
result in an immediate DQ
- Following the competition red;
- The running order will be set
according to the last scored lap of the first segment
- All karts will have 30 seconds to
restart and pull into their proper lineup
- The second segment will begin with a
single file restart at the end of the back straightaway
- Best qualifying time for each Kahuna race will receive $50
- Kahuna Event winners will receive the
coveted Holiday Classic Crystal Trophy
- The announced purse will be paid in
the following manner;
- 1st place – 50% of the
total purse for this event
- 2nd place – 30% of the
total purse
- 3rd place – 20% of the
total purse
- Any protests must be properly
submitted within 30 minutes of the race conclusion
- Protests will be handled in the
normal manner by the Race Director
- Results will not be final and payouts
will not be made until all protests are resolved.
