2011 RULE BOOK

 

4-Cycle Jr Jr:

All drivers must be between attained age 5 and competition age 8. All drivers and karts must meet the minimum class weight of  200 pounds (includes driver and kart), measured at the end of each race. Race specifications will match those of IKF's 4-Cycle Jr I class with the following local options:

  • Gasoline only, no addititves
  • Animal Engine with a sealed crankcase and 6100 rpm limiter purchased from AKA
  • Must run IKF black restrictor plate
  • Functioning kill switch located on the steering wheel
  • 6-inch or longer pull strap located on the spark plug wire
  • Must use spec pipe and muffler has supplied by AKA
  • Muffler is required
  • Driver's fairing is not allow
  • This is designed to be an introduction to karting for the youngest racers and rule changes will always be governed by safety and may be changed at the discretion of the board

4-Cycle Jr Rookie:

All drivers must be between competition ages of 8-15. All drivers and karts must meet the minimum class weight of  270 pounds, measured at the end of each race. Qualification for advancement from the Jr Rookie class to the primary class requires the following:

  • Briggs IKF flat head engine option 235 lbs  .425 blue restrictor required
  • Briggs IKF animal option 270 lbs  IKF black restrictor required
  • Any pipe and muffler per IKF rules  (muffler is required)
  • Approval by the Racing Committee
  • Continuous control of the kart (limited number of spin-outs)
  • Ability to maintain consistent racing line
  • Good understanding of the rules
  • Ability to run consistent lap times
    • 18 second laps for Jr I
    • 17 second laps for Jr II
  • Participants may remain in the Rookie Class until one of the following occurs
  •              5 main event wins
  •             25 registered races at AKA Speedway
  •             At the discretion of the AKA board
  • Any questions about entering this class or moving up to Jr I or Jr II should be directed to the racing committee

4-Cycle Jr I Heavy:

All drivers must be between competition ages of 8-11 (IKF Competition age is the highest age of the driver during the calendar year).

  • Briggs IKF flathead engine option 235 lbs (includes driver and kart)
  • .425 blue IKF restrictor required
  • Any pipe and muffler per IKF rules (muffler is required)
  • Briggs animal engine option 270 lbs (includes driver and kart)
  • IKF black restrictor required
  • Any pipe and muffler per IKF rules (muffler is required)
  • The 2 engine combinations will run combined and scored as one class

4-Cycle Jr. II

For Jr II - All drivers must be between competition ages of 12-15.

  • Briggs flathead restricted (red plate) specifications per IKF rules 285 lbs
  • Briggs flathead unrestricted specifications per IKF Super Jr II 325 lbs
  • Briggs animal restricted (gold plate) per IKF rules 320 lbs
  • Minimum class weight (includes driver and kart)
  • Any pipe and muffler per IKF rules (muffler is required)
  • The 3 engine combinations will run combined and be scored as one class

QM 120:

All drivers must be between attained age 5 and competition age 16. All drivers must meet the minimum class weight of 250 pounds, measured at the conclusion of each race. Race specifications will match those of the Quarter Midget Association. Refer to the QMA rules for detailed specifications.

QM 160, Modified:

All drivers must be competition ages 8-16. All drivers must meet the minimum class weight of 280 pounds, measured at the conclusion of each race. Race specifications will match those of the Quarter Midget Association with the following local options:

  • Only Honda GX160 engines are allowed
    • New or old style engine is authorized
  • Mixing of new and old part styles OK
  • GX200 Head gasket OK
  • Only Mountain Machine cams up to and include the 5 1/2 cam are OK
  • GX140 valve springs OK
  • 3-angle valve grind OK
  • Any head porting is allowed
  • Stock GX160 carburetor except jets are free
  • Timing - free
  • Offset key maximum 4 degrees
  • GX160 fan shroud, may finish edges of the air inlet opening but may not increase the size of the opening
  • Pump gas 94 octane maximum
  • Any throttle linkage - must have positive double return spring
  • Any spark plug
  • Any exhaust with muffler
  • No maximum axle width as long as the tires fit on a standard axle
  • All other dimensions and safety rules per the QMA Rulebook

Adult 2-Cycle

All drivers must be at least competition age 16. All drivers must meet the minimum class weight.  Refer to Rule 402 for an explanation of engine / weight requirements. Race specifications will match those of IKF 2-Cycle 100cc Super Stock (Heavy).

  • This class provided AKA club races only.  All classes for the Holiday Classic or IKF races shall follow IKF rule book
  • Class structure per IKF 2-cycle Super Stock class excpet as noted
  • KT-100 minimum weight 360 lbs
  • Super Stock minimum weight 400 lbs
  • Weights may be adjusted by decision AKA board after the first 3 races of the season.  Racer input will be collected per to any decision to change minimum weight

Adult 4-Cycle

All drivers must be at least competition age 16. All drivers must meet the minimum class weight.

  • Briggs flathead unrestricted per IKF rules 345 lbs
  • Briggs animal unrestricted per IKF rules 370 lbs
  • Any pipe and muffler per IKF rules (muffler is required)
  • The 2 engine combinations will run combined and be scored as one class

 

 Adult Sportsman

All drivers must be at least competition age 16.  All drivers must meet the minimum class weight of 370 lbs.

  • Briggs IKF flathead option
  • Any pipe and muffler per IKF rules (muffler is required)
  • Briggs IKF animal option
  • IKF gold restrictor required
  • Any pipe and muffler per IKF rules (muffler is required)
  • Yamaha KT-100S option
  • .850 restrictor required
  • RLV Box muffler, YBX
  • Gas and oil only, no additives allowed
  • No direct drive allowed
  • Clone motor
  • Minimum class weight 370 lbs (includes driver and kart)
  • 5 lbs of weight must be added to any kart for each consecutive wins, and added weight must remain on the kart for the reminder of the season.
  • The 4 engine combinations will run combined and be scored as one class

 

Unlimited All-Stars:

All drivers must be at least competition age 16. Please see the UAS Rules for minimum weight requirements. Race specifications will match those of UAS and   IKF rules.

 Clone Class:

 

  2.14 ADULT CLONE (age 16 +) 375# and 400#
  2.14.1 All Adult clone motor classes will follow IKF engine rule 723
       with the following local option rules applied:
           A) ARC Billet flywheel #6619 only is mandatory.
B) 375# class will be an open tire class.
C) 375# class tires will be marked prior to first heat race and 1 set
of tires will be used the entire event only. Damaged tires must be
approved by Race director or Tech director prior to any replacement of
tire during an event.
D) 400# Class will use Burris only tires (33 or 44’s)
2.15 ADULT CLONE CLASS ENGINE CLAIM (375# and 400# classes)
2.15.1 Engine claim will be $125
A) Any engine may be claimed by another driver in the same entered main event.
B) Claiming driver ill notify post tech official or Race Director of
desired claim, within 15 minutes of end of main event.
C) Both Claiming driver and Claimed drivers karts will go directly to
post tech regardless of finishing position.
D) In the event 2 separate drivers want the same engine for claim, the
driver finishing in the lowest position of the main event will be
granted the claim.
E) Claimed engine parts will include all internal parts as is, carb,
among other parts as base engine came from factory.
F) All bolt on parts but not limited to will be returned to claimed
driver ( header, engine plate, top fuel pump plate, Billet flywheel,
throttle links)
G) Claimed engine will be teched prior to claim approval, if found to
be illegal no claim will be approved. Claimed driver will receive DQ
and 50 points only, for race event should his motor be found illegal.
2.16 REFUSAL OF ENGINE CLAIM
2.16.1 Any driver refusing claim with pose a penalty of :
A) 0 points for race event.
B) $100 fine paid to AKA due prior to next entered race event at AKA .
2.17 AKA’s Competition age is the highest age of the driver during the
racing season (Aug.1 - July 31) Also, a driver with an attained age
may move to the higher age class
  • Exhaust header MUST be wrapped.It is highly recommended that a chain cover / heat shield (example: American Power Sports P/N AP 5264) be used. Wrap must cover area from exhaust port flange to a point to the rear of the valve cover

  • All karts must meet IKF Safety rules. Contact me with any questions regarding kart safety rules. Cannot race unless all safety rules are met period, NO EXCEPTIONS

    Driver safety equipment minimums are :
      a. Helmet, Snell 2000 or later ( no exceptions , must have Snell sticker)
      b. Abrasive resistive jacket and pants. ( denim or better)
      c. 360 degree neck collar
      d. Ankle high shoes and socks ( don't have to be racing shoes but must cover the ankles.
